6×17 is a panoramic format traditionally used by film photographers working with large-format view cameras—the type famously associated with Ansel Adams and many other masters of landscape photography.
I’m especially drawn to it for architecture and street scenes because it allows you to showcase both the structure itself and the environment surrounding it. Photograph a scene during the golden or blue hour, and the results can be spectacular.
